Optimising business performance in new-growth organisations

The Twelve B.V.

The Twelve B.V. is an international strategic management consultancy that works with organisations on optimising the co-creative new growth of business.

Purpose and process
Today almost all organisations feel impelled to develop and grow, and that growth is usually sought either in new approaches to enhance existing business, or in the development of new products, strategies or ventures. The most difficult questions facing leaders within such innovations tend to focus on how to engage their workforce most productively in the process of creating a new kind or quality of value. Many organisations are indeed overwhelmed by the sheer number, size and complexity of problems in creating new value in their existing business, let alone in a new area of business. The consequences are that planned objectives are rarely fully achieved, and the true potential for growth is lost. Our experience is that the core problem is usually a lack of clarity of both purpose and process.

Sentient organisations
Those organisations that are long-term high-performance creators of innovative value tend to be sentient organisations – organisations with a conscious awareness of who they are and what value they uniquely and optimally co-create, sharing a lived uniqueness. Apple, Amazon, BMW, McDonald’s, Unilever and Toyota are all archetypal sentient organisations. Such organisations are not silo-managed, and their principal governing criteria are not quarterly figures, share price or Board pay. They are usually characterised by

Four principles of purpose and process
  • their unique value-creation capability frames all decisions and processes
  • continuous improvement is built in to all decisions and processes
  • all decisions and processes are whole-system, cross-function and co-creative
  • the meaning and purpose of all decisions and processes is the co-creation of optimal value for all stakeholders – customers, investors, employees, suppliers, and the organisation itself.

Optimise performance of existing and new business strategies
We consultants of The Twelve specialise in working with organisations that aspire to the highest levels of existing and new-business performance that can be achieved through these four principles of sentience, but who, for whatever reason, need support and guidance. In these times of complexity and extreme competition there are many organisations struggling in their shift towards new ways of thinking, working and competing, and towards living their uniqueness more successfully. Leadership and management are all about people, and about tapping into all of their capabilities and aspirations. They are about how to productively engage everyone in the willing and disciplined co-creation of optimal value. The Twelve supports those working within the organisation to optimise the performance of existing and new business strategies for the benefit of all stakeholders, coaching both leaders and employees towards a more optimally lived uniqueness. Development and growth are human processes, and we humans are all unique. Our particular expertise is in guiding groups of individuals, each of whom has his or her own unique agenda, towards a fulfilling co-creation within the common purpose and shared processes of an increasingly sentient organisation.
